Sending an ordered book to an alternative address is easy, other than the fact that you need to type in the whole address, not the member name.  But there are two things to remember, you must mark the book received, the receiver cannot.  And you lose the option to RWAP.

Emily - I looked and couldn't find anything that says that you lose the option to RWAP if you have a book sent to an alternate address. C an you tell me where that's posted?  I have books sent to my grandchildren all the time.  Fortunately I've never had a problem, but would hate to think that an unpostable book could be sent and I wouldn't have any recourse.  Thanks. Pat

From help:

Why don't I see the *There is a problem with this book* option when I mark my book received?

If you do not see the when you mark a book received, that means that you requested this book to be sent to an alternate address (not the address on your account).

  • This is part of the system--books sent to an alternate address will not have the "problem" option.
  • The system presumes that an alternate address means an alternate recipient, and that you will not be examining the book yourself.

If a book you requested to be sent to an alternate address is received with a problem:

  • Use the Comments box on the bottom of the Book Received page to note the problem(s) with the book.
  • You can still contact the sender as described in There is a problem with a book I received!, to discuss this book and to ask for a credit refund if it is warranted.
    • You can write the PM to the sender in the box at the top of the Book Received page
    • You can contact the sender after that (if you did not use the text box at the top of the Book Received page when marking the book received) from the Completed transaction in your Transaction Archive.
  • Comments put into the text box on the survey will be reviewed if there is a problem with a sender's account, even in books that were not classified as problem transactions.

I guess it was a browser problem: I was using Firefox, now I'm using IE, and it seems to work.  Problem is, I normally don't use IE.

The questions I was going to ask have already been answered by Pat and Emily.   So thank you, ladies, for reading my mind!!
