Yep!  Once last week, and I am pretty sure I'm going to have another by the end of the week (it's been 3 days now and we are still "waiting on member.")

I've been having trouble because of snow and ice storms recently.  If I know I am unable to get out on time I message the recipient, explain the situation, and be sure to send it first class to make up for their time loss.  This doesn't happen often, but the Midwest has been having a lot of snow lately and maybe others have similar problems getting the post office when they had planned to.

I think it is more than them not mailing it out...it sounds like they aren't even responding.

I know I have posted a few WL books and the people never accepted them.  So I posted them on another site and they were snatched up almost immediately.

She called them the "sender" so I figured the deal was accepted and they missed the mail by date.  I could be wrong.

If the electricity is out, they could be unable to mark them mailed.

Your right Hillary..I accepted and then they missed the date!!  Another thing that has happened lately is that after I accept the book it then says it cant be maile dc I request no smoking books!!!  Isnt there a way to see this before it is offered to me!

I've been having trouble with members not responding to my requests, too...the thing just sits there with "waiting for member" or whatever it says.  Very annoying.  I've had several time out and go on to someone else.  As I posted earlier in a thread, when it has been close to 5 days, I add the member who's not responding to my buddy list, so when it times out I can add a tag not to order from that member in the future.  Luckily the majority of folks on here are pleasant and great to deal with!

I've noticed here in the past little while that I wait and wait and wait some more for a book and when it finally reaches me the postmark on the book is actually two to three days later than what they marked it in the PBS system.  I know things happen and sometimes a book gets out a day or two late or sometimes the USPS just flat out takes a little longer but I'm getting really frustrated as I've been waiting on one book that says it was mailed on 11-15-07!!??  I've NEVER had to wait this long and I'm not quite sure what to do.  Any suggestions?!?

same here!  Thought it was just me until I saw this thread.  Requested White Oleander  over a week ago.  It timed out on the first person and is in its third day "Waiting for Member" for the next in the FIFO system.  Lots of other ISDN's in the system, so this one probably won't be a problem.  But I also requested another book which is now on its third day 'waiting for member' - and there are only two total copies of this in the system. So if both of these time out, I'm outta luck.  Bummer!

edited to add:  This just occurred to me:  my bookshelf is currently on hold.  Is it just a coincidence that this 'trend' started happening since it went on hold?  I've not ever had such a problem when ordering books...

No, I don't think your shelf being on hold has anything to do with it. People are busy. Either they didn't turn off their shelves or they just aren't checking in to see if they have any requests. I think you need to check in at least once a day. Course, I don't have a life other than work so I check in several times a day. But I still wait on clicking the mail by button til I actually have the book in hand and make sure it meets conditions before I say I can send it. Sometimes that takes a bit cause my books all got moved around and I can't find them as easily as before. I'm working on trying to make access easier.

Yep, I'm waiting right now on a WL book and it looks like they aren't going to be marking mailed. It's the 2nd WL book in 2 weeks this has happened.   I've not had too many negative experiences here at all, but it does seem to be a rise in this kind of stuff.    I'll just wait and see what happens.

I recently just made a post about the same topic.  I've been holding out for a Wish List book the past five days hoping the "waiting for member" would turn into a "book has been mailed" notice.  But no such luck.  The request was just cancelled.  The thing that I don't get, is that if the person knows they are posting a wishlist book, then why do they not check their accounts?  The only things I can think of is that they didn't not know it was a wishlist book, can't get to a computer, or they accidenlty posted the book never intending to send it out.  Who knows... but it is very annoying, especially when you get all excited seeing that a wishlist book that you want has finally been posted.  I feel all your pain : )

Erika, try being the person that posted the WL book and the receiver never accepting...that is just as frustrating!

It could be that they didn't know it was WL.  I posted some children's books Fri night and 2 turned out to be WL. I had no idea until I went on PBS to post more books later that night.
