I have some books posted that I have. How do I know to send them or that someone is interested?

When you log in and go to the 'My Account' page, there will be a request posted there. Also, you'll get an e-mail that there's a request for one of your books.

Hi Craig.  It is a good idea to check your Main page at least once whenever you come to the site -- all active transactions affecting your account will show up there, including book requests to you.  It is set up with a number of different tabs when there are transactions in progress, telling you the state of those transactions, including Books Requested From You, Books To Mail, Books You've Requested, Books You've Mailed, Books En Route To You, Books Mailed To Friends, etc.

(Get to your Main page by clicking on My Account at the top of any page and then clicking on Main link from the top of the dropdown menu that appears.)

Thank you for the help with my question, but I have one more. How does the wish list work?

You add books to it that you want, but which aren't currently available in PBS. You'll know that's the case because if you search for the book, the results will not have an 'Order this Book' button; only a 'Post this Book' button.

If you choose the 'wish list' button, you get in line for that book. Whoever is first in line gets the first copy that gets posted to PBS, the second person gets the second copy, etc.

It's basically a system to handle books where there is more demand than supply. Also, it works for books that aren't out yet, but which have an ISBN number.

and if you don't have credits for your wish list books yet and you cancel when it is offered to you, the book is taken off your wish list at that point.

You can purchase credits from PBS or from other members listing in the Book Bazaar discussion forum.

you may have up to 200 books on your wish list.

If a particular edition of a book is not posted on PBS, you can request to join the Wish List for the book. PBS will track the Wish Listers in order, so that when the book is posted, it will be offered to the first person in line (who has been on the Wish List the longest). Next book posted goes to the next wisher, etc.

There is a menu to go and look at your Wish List, once you start wishing for books. Go to My Account -> My Lists -> Wish List, and you will be able to see the books you are wishing for, and your spot in line. (6 out of 10, etc)

When you look at a book listing, if it is posted in PBS, there will be a "Order This Book" button. If there are no copies, that button will be gone, and if you want to Wish for it, you add it to your Wish List by clicking on the smaller button labeled +Wish. If the book is posted but you don't want to order it immediately, you can also add it to your "Reminder List", (+ Reminder button) that can be used to track books you are interested in, but don't want to order or put onto your Wish List right away.

Also, if you go to Help Center -> Browse Help Docs, on the left hand side there will be a Table of Contents that will lead you to all kinds of basic info about PBS and the features, and how they all work!

Welcome to PBS!

Welcome to PBS, Craig!  If you start here --> http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/help_index.php

you'll find all the information you'll need to get started.  I spent my first day or two reading through the entire help center and found it indispensable for navigating around here, especially the guidelines regarding proper book wrapping and requestor conditions.  Happy swapping!

Craig - welcome.  You were also assigned a Tour Guide (TG) when you signed up.  You can find your Tour Guide's name at the top of your personal message tab along with a PM button.  Click the PM to send your Tour Guide a message, they will be happy to help you to navigate the site.
