I know there is this option when on the book page of your own bookshelf.  Can this be used when sending a book as a 2 for 1?  And will the book keep it's footprint?  I'm currently unposting books that are the freebies.  But the books lose their history when that is done.

If you wish to use preprinted labels, you can post a very popular book that has hundreds or thousand of copies available and then use the send to friend to generate a postage label - you'll need to mark it received afterward. No matter the way you generate a postage label, merely adjust the total weight to equal the weight of the package and all the books.

I'm already getting the label from the first book.  I'm wondering if the second, the free book, can get it's transaction history moved by using this option.

Unless you mark the second book mailed, the transaction history won't follow the book.  If you really want the history to follow you can post the book,  have the person order it, and once it's marked received return their credit.  Although to me, that seems like a lot of work to just watch where a particular book is going.

Oh, got cha. It's interesting to find on my transaction list that most all books I've sent end at the recipient. I found only one that went on to another destination. Of course, I haven't sent a large number of books and have many on hold on my bookshelf. It would be nice to see more forward swapping to help the FIFOs on our WL.

Dumb questiom....

I know ARC means advance readers copy. What is that? Why do so some say those are unpostable? What is the difference between mass market and ARC?

ARC's aren't final editions that go into print.  They aren't meant to be sold on the public market.  Thus - they can't be traded on PBS for credits.  And they will say if they are ARC's usually on the cover.

A search in the help docs will return info about ARC editions.
