The author goes back to her roots to find out the origins of Chinese cooking by eating, working and traveling all over the country. It is a humble account of her attempt to discover the histories behind some of her favorite foods. As she learns how to cook authentic dishes, she shares the recipes with the reader. It was a nice read. Jen Lin-Liu is a very good writer so it was easy to follow along in her stories and travels.
