I loved Marge Piercy's "Gone to Soldiers," so was extremely disappointed in this novel. As a matter of fact, I couldn't get past page 61; there was a lot of nice detail of old New York and the characters were interesting, but somehow it managed to plod in such a boring manner that I had to scrap it.
