Superbly read, I am enjoying this Victorian era series very much. You can count on Philip Pullman to make his villains really evil and our plucky heroes narrowly escape from danger to danger. Highly recommend.

This story is grimmer than the first Sally Lockheart book. Acting on behalf of a client, Sally discovers a plot that could signal Russian world domination; of course, she foils it - but at a high cost.
