Inside the cover states: "Dennis Brooke read the newspaper headline: 'SHAITAN GETS NO. 283'. The article claimed that the man-eating leopard had killed in broad daylight. "Impossible", Brooke thought. Unless this was something else. Unless Shaitan was some strange mutation of his species. Unless he was, as all the Hindus claimed, some kind of devil or evil spirit. Of course, all this was rubbish. Or was it? A slight chill ran up his spine."
