Chronicles of the Cheysuli, a race of people that can change their shape to the form of their lir. Originally published in eight books, now in four volumes.

The Cheysuli are kind of interesting, as an idea, but there weren't any surprises to me in these books. Just a little formulaic.

An interesting book about a race called the Cheysuli, who are magical warriors who can talk with animals and assume their shape. They are outcasts, often hunted down by the lord of the land. The main character is Alix, who is half Cheysuli, and half royalty. The story deals with her trying to find out who she really feels she is.

One of my favorite book series of all time! I named my daughter after one of the characters, Keely.

Long out of print, "The Chronicles of Cheysuli" is the sprawling saga of the exiles, and return, of a warrior race of shapechangers, whose magical odyssey begin in these two novels together in one volume: "Shapechangers" and "The Song of Homana".
