I found an Aluratek Libre Color on ebay for $35 so I bought it for my daughter! She likes LCD, she doesn't like e-ink. It's not a touch screen tablet, it's a backlit color ereader, nothing complicated, no wifi or apps, but it can play music and video. Of course it's used but hopefully the battery is good. I think she'll love it!

Looks nice, fingers crossed the battery is good for you.

Thanks, I hope so. I am excited on my daughter's behalf. And I no longer feel eager regarding a new Fire release. If this works out the way I think it will, there will be no need.

Here's some info on it for the curious :)

My coworker just bought a Pandigital color ereader and it uses the BN store but you can also download apps for Kindle.  It's a little slow but nice if you just want an ereader and don't have the money for a Nook or Kindle.  I think it was less than $90

I've heard of those. The one I got my daughter doesn't have wifi, which is fine, for her. She has the Nook Color for wifi.

I bought one of the Pandigitals from 1saleaday when they were $25.  Haven't had much time to play with it at all.

The Libre Color arrived. I think my daughter will like it, she is out of town. One of my sons wants to try it out while she is gone. I put a few epubs on a 2GB SD card (the full size one!) snapped it in, and there there are. Easy peasy. Great color reader for $35.
