I just finished the first book in this series (and I've already mailed it off to the next PBSer) and really enjoyed it. Penman is really good at establishing a sense of place which I really enjoy. If you like historical fiction, this historical mystery might be to your liking.

I agree, I love her Justin de Quincy medieval mystery series. I've read all four of them, and really wish she'd add to the list! I like her straight historical fiction too, but those are sooooo long, and sometimes get a little involved. These mysteries are lighter and don't take so long to get through.

I heard Cheryl talking about this series and finally got around to reading the first a week or so ago. I loved it!
