I decided to start the new year off with a favorite author, recent others had been disappointing and I wanted a "sure thing".  Well of course with Penman I'm not disappointed except with this...I WANT more.

Specifically, Justin de Quincy historical mysteries.  The last-Prince of Darkness-came out 10 years ago.  In the author's note, Sharon mentions that "like Sharpe"(Cornwell) Justin will be marching again...."

I've looked on Amazon, Facebook, her blog....but nothing about finishing out this series.  Does anyone have any information?

She's only had four Justin novels published.  Apparently her publisher is reluctant to publish more for some reason.  I don't remember any details, but she has talked about this on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/225077331466/?ref=br_tf  (Fans of Justin de Quincy)

Thanks Vicky.  Disappointing but good to know.

She briefly mentioned it when she was on the book tour for "A King's Ransom" and it does appear to be publisher driven, but I don't remember the details either.

Here is what Sharon wrote on Goodreads a couple months ago to the question:

Sharon Kay Penman Yes, I am, Blair. In fact, I am giving serious consideration to doing another mystery after I finish Outremer, for that would give me a much needed breathing space and time to ponder which historical saga I want to do after that. My American publisher had asked me to focus on the historicals since they sold better than the mysteries, and my then-British publisher had never liked the mysteries at all. But things have changed and I have a new British publisher for the mysteries which has done a wonderful job of promoting them; all four have been on Amazon.UK's e-book historical mysteries bestseller list for almost a year now, so I hope that will make the mysteries more appealing. :-) Also, I'd planned to send Justin and Durand to Wales on another Road Trip from Hell in the next mystery, where Llywelyn ab Iorwerth would make another appearance, so that is very tempting for me!

Deb-that is very good news from Goodreads.  There's so many strings with Justin that I want tied up in a bow!

Jan, when I spoke with her at the Tucson Book Festival last spring, she indicated that she would definitely be getting back to Justin!
