I continue to be disappointed in Lucy Monroe's recent efforts. This novel lacks any real significant conflict between the hero and heroine. Where is the angst? Where is the misunderstanding? Monroe's recent novels have lost the emotional intensity of her earlier works. The only conflict presented in this story is resolved with little effort and no drama--and it's not even between the lead characters. I miss the strong emotion evident in Monroe's older works.
The characters are flawless. That is not a compliment. Sayed is too good looking, too noble, too arrogant (is that a flaw?) Liyah is beautiful, smart, self confident, self assured. I mean, really!?! What's there to connect with?
