If I put my book shelf on a vacation hold, will I still receive my WL books?

While I don't personally know the answer to your question based on experience, I believe your question is answered by others in this thread:  http://www.paperbackswap.com/Vacation-Hold/topic/281760/

I received my answer via "live help" thank you, tho, Sassy25!

Hi Holly,

Any books you place on "auto-request" on your wishlist will bypass the vacation hold.

There is some issue about the order of doing things and the hold.  I highly recommend putting on auto request before the vacation hold has started.  Just in case.  There are some oddities about how the hold works with auto request and posting.  I think books added after the hold starts aren't registered until after it comes off?

You can put items on Auto Request at any time -- my shelf is often on hold and I put items on AR all the time with no complications.

I just deleted all of the books on my bookshelf. I really don't want everything on my WL on auto and I have sent out well over my usual quota of books for the month and need a break. I wish PBS had an option for this situation. Hold the bookshelf for a reason such as mine and continue to use the WL as normal.

In that case, I believe you could have Marked "All" of the books on your bookshelf and chosen "Hold" instead of "Delete".  The books on hold are not offered until you "Post" them.  I'm not sure if you can keep your spot in the FIFO line that way.

Edit:  "Managing your PBS bookshelf" says you will lose your spot in the FIFO line by using hold and post buttons on the bookshelf, but it will save some work for reposting books.

Love the golden shots!

While bookshelf hold and wish list hold sound very similar, they are actually very different.  They were added at different times.  The bookshelf hold removes your place in the FIFO line.  The advantage is it makes it easier to re-post and it saves the" footprint", the book's swap history.

I frequently put my bookshelf on hold and then just autorequest the bulk of my WL.  I've never had a problem with getting overwhelmed with WL books and I never keep more than 10-20 credits on hand with 10 being the more common for me.  So unless you routinely get a whole bunch of WL books, I wouldn't worry about it much.

That being said, I've decided not to really keep a bookshelf here any more either.  But that's more of a home space issue.  I don't have the storage space to keep books I no longer want.  So I'm only posting WL books and popular books with just a few copies posted that I know will get requested pretty quick.  Everything else gets donated.
