Though shunned by her people, Nessa agrees to be a live carrier for the deadly virus that is killing off the Shielders. Her mission is to deliver it to a secret laboratory before it kills her. Her ship breaks down and she is rescued by Chase Mcknight, a Shadower, a destroyer of Shielders. Naturally, they start falling in love.

I really liked this story. I give it an A. Chase was the perfect alpha and Nessa was strong and smart enough to battle with him. What I really didnt like was Nessas wish to have her clan accept her after she is able to save them. I would have told them all to take a flying leap.

I picked this up because it was a SciFi romance, vs. paranormal, for a change. I almost didn't get it because of the cover. Well, I can tell you that I'm 3/4 through it and I have not seen a tropical beach nor a palm tree yet - desert and spaceports, yes. I think the story here is not necessarily one that will appeal to the same people to which the cover would appeal.

That said, it is a fair yarn and moves fast enough. Fits right in the middle of the romance genre for a mix of adventure and sex. I found the two main characters frustrating due to their stupidity and/or lack of self confidence. OK, so that may be a major plot line, but I don't like wimpy characters as much as strong ones in action adventures. Both characters spend too much time in their heads, worrying about their insecurities.

It's good enough for me to try the next one in the series, but I will not read another if the it does not have stronger characters.
