I get a discount at my work if I ship packages via UPS which makes it cheaper than doing PBS printable postage.  Is this allowed according to PBS rules and policies?

Yes, you can send books via UPS as long as they can deliver to that address (i.e. it's not a PO Box). I've gotten a couple books that way.

If you do use a shipper other than the Postal Service, please make sure there will not be a signature required for delivery of your package.

Although I've not received any PBS via UPS, IIRC it's allowed if you wish.  I'd also recommend you do the shipper (sender) release option so they do not hold up delivery for a signature (or even return your book).
