Another great Dirk Pitt adventure from the pen of Clive Cussler.

From back cover: Tasman Sea, 1856: A British clipper ship bound for Australia's penal colony is crushed in a raging typhoon. A few pitiful survivors wash up on a deserted island. Among them are Betsy Fletcher and Jess Dorsett, who discover an immense supply of exquisite diamonds.
Seymour Island, Antarctica, 2000: Dirk Pitt rescues Maeve Fletcher, a descendent of Betsy and Jess, after an unknown cataclysm kills thousands of marine animals plus nearly two hundred people aboard a cruise ship. Pitt traces the carnage to the global diamond operations of Maeve's father, Arthur Dorsett, and her callous sisters. From a chilling escape at a high-security Canadian mine to a tiny boat adrift on lonely, shark-infested seas, the ingenious Pitt is racing to thwart Dorsett's ruthless plans--before an unthinkable disaster claims millions of innocent lives.

OK - to start with I must confess I've read ALL Clive Cussler's books, both
fiction and non-fiction and have enjoyed every single one.

With the possible exception that it had some sad parts I enjoyed this
story very much.

Mr. Cussler has a wonderful way with words and the way he tells his stories
shows an incredible good-humouredness for living.

His heroes are GOOD and his villains are all BAD, and whether or not it is
like real life he ends his stories with a world that is a better place for
the actions and the existence of the good characters he's created.

Would you or I or most people even survive the kinds of Pitt-falls his hero
just takes in stride ? Probably not. Does that matter to me as a reader ?
Not in the least.

I can only wish that maybe there are some real people who are 1/2 as well
endowed with consciences, vigor and determination like his characters all
show so well - they'd make good examples for people to learn from.

In conclusion I will stop short of saying Mr. Cussler can do no wrong in
this reader's opinion, but I WILL say that as long as he'll write 'em,
I'll get 'em and read every one !

This book is the traditional Dirk Pitt story where he finds his way out of several tight spots much like Maguiver. It is a quick and easy read and should be considered if you want a simple book that you don't have to think too much about. It follows a good story line and cussler has a way to captivating the reader. If you like other Dirk Pitt novels then you will like this one

OMG what a fabulous installment in the adventures of Dirk Pitt and Albert Giordino. This is non-stop action from page 1 all the way through page 537. At no point does this story drag. There is absolutely no filler. This is 500+ pages of pure adrenalin filled, life threatening adventure.

Dirk Pitt rescues a cruise ship (and 20+ passengers) circling an island in the Antarctic Ocean after an horrific plague has killed nearly everyone onboard plus all the animal-life surrounding the island. Two of the passengers (Maeve and Deirdre) are related to Arthur Dorsett a diamond mining kingpin with grand designs of ruling the diamond world regardless of who is killed in the taking.

Dirk is tasked with solving the riddle of this plague that kills indiscriminately. Somehow through determination and great research it comes back to the kingpin and his deranged family. His daughters - Maeve, Deirdre and Boudicca all play a role in this spectacular saga. Maeve, the good girl/blacksheet of the family. Deirdre and Boudicca both firmly under Daddy's thumb and clearly having the familial gene of insanity.

Clive Cussler is my new favorite author!
