Shooter's Bible Treasury: New Second Edition
Shooter's Bible Treasury New Second Edition Author:Roger Barlow Introduction: — The very earliest Stoeger catalogs were just that - strictly catalogs of guns and shooter's supplies. Then gradually short articles on various types of firearms, accessories and hunting began to creep into the catalogs. (Some of those early articles were selected for inclusion in the first "Treasury".) Eventually the Stoeger ca... more »talog was expanded with more and longer articles being written for it each year by the leading gun writers of this age, and it became, in fact, the "SHOOTER'S BIBLE".
This Second Treasury has somewhat less of the catalog content of past Shooter's Bibles but more of the interesting and informative articles by Warren Page, Pete Kuhlhoff, Bob Nichols, Jack O'Connor, Col. Charles Askins, Larry Koller, Elmer Keith, John Alden Knight, Bert Popowski, Dick Simmons and other authorities. You will discover not one but several articles by some of these writers in this second "Treasury" - there are four by Warren Page, five by Bob Nichols, four by Pete Kuhlhoff and five by Jack O'Connor.
They deal with game ranging from woodchucks to elephants, with rifles from the .22 Hornet to the .458. Bird hunters, too, will find plenty of reading material to interest them for all aspects of scattergunning, from clay targets to upland game to waterfowl, are dealt with.
Utilizing the perogatives of an editor, I have interspersed my own comments on various catalog items and articles found in these "Bibles" from which the contents of this Second Treasury have been compiled.
The next best thing to hunting is reading about hunting, and the next best thing to actually buying another gun is to think about buying one. Therefore, this "Treasury" has the potential of providing some very pleasant evenings for you or of brightening an afternoon when it is just too wet and miserable to venture out.« less
