I posted in an earlier thread about my bad luck with books going lost on me.  Earlier today I PMed the sender of the 2 books that went lost today.  She very quickly responded (which i appreciated) that a friend helped label the packages for her.  The books came back to her and she's re-mailing them to me, which is good as i still want them.  My question is, they were put onto my WL and I am first in line for both.  Do I take her word for it that they are being re-mailed to me and take them off my WL or do I wait until I've actually received the books?  What happens if I am offered the WL books before i get the mailed ones?  What should I do?

Jennifer - You can put the books on WL hold. That would preserve your place on the WL but you won't get new copies posted. Do NOT remove them from your WL until you receive the books.

If it were me I'd wait until I had the books in hand.  If they're WLd books, you can always repost if you get more than one copy.

Guess it would depend on how much you really want the books.  If not too much, then cancel as soon as you see she's posted the books, but if they're something you really, really want, I'd not cancel until I had her books in hand.  Pat

Definitely put them on Hold on your Wish List.  You will keep your place in line while you wait for these ones to show up. If it were me, if I didn't see the first copy of the books show up within 2 weeks I would again PM the sender to make sure the books had in fact been mailed.

Hold on the Wish List keeps you at the top of the list.  Use it.  It's really great.

Hold on your bookshelf is a different matter.  Don't use it.  Use only vacation hold on your bookshelf.  Hold there puts you at the back of the line.

IIRC, TPTB recommend a two week wait period before re-ordering.   Sounds like good advice in this instance also.  If she really mailed, the books will probably arrive and if not (but she sends later) you are not obligated to mark them received if you receive duplicates from a second member.  Waiting is a bummer tho frown

Thanks for all the advice.  I'm going to place the 2 books on WL hold.
