I am running a special on my shelf right now and recently received two orders from two people (two diffeent books) but neither one of them informed me which books they wanted for free.  Should I PM them and remind them that I am running a special or is it maybe they just don't want any other books.  I don't want to appear silly by reminding them of something they may already know. Has anyone dealt with this before?  If so, I would appreciate any advise.

My feeling is that they probably didn't know and you should PM them with the offer. I usually just look for a book I want and press order, but don't really look at the sender's Bookshelf.  So that's just why i think that.  :-)

Hi Vicki,

I just looked at your bookshelf and would not have known about your promo. How would the people ordering books be aware?

I am new and wondering about several things like this.

Thank-you, Lori

Hi Lori....Welcome to PBS.  I have a post in the Book Bazaar detailing my special and to PM me with the books they want for freebies.  Maybe they didn't go thru the book bazaar and don't know about it either.

Vicki,

That's it! I just  discovered the book bazaar about a week ago after giving 178 books to the salvation army that I deemed "unpostable". Now  I'm kicking myself. Not everyone uses the forums, or maybe not right away.

Vicki,

The orders may be from people who do not know about your deal. A lot of PBS users may never use the forums or even look at members' bookshelves.

You can PM them to offer the deal if you want to, but I would put a deadline on it (something like I will wait 24 hours to mail this book to give you the chance to look at my bookshelf and PM me with your freebie requests) so you can still send their book out within the deadline even if they don't respond.

When I offer a deal, I always explicitly state that they must PM me when they order to get their freebies, just to avoid misunderstandings like this.

ETA: Also be sure to keep an eye on your original forum posting, as some people will order a book and post their freebie choices there without sending you a message to confirm.

I've run a deal and when someone ordered from me and didn't ask for the free book, I did pm them and let them know.  They were all very thrilled that I let them know.

Thanks for the help.  I have sent PMs and put in a time limit so I can make the deadline.  Appreciate the tips.
