The book is by Dennis Lehane, and I just read that they are making a movie with Leo DiCaprio and Michelle Williams!  Was anyone else freaked out about that book!  (soooo gooood!)  That's all I will say, no spoilers!

Carol, this book looks terrific and the reviews are amazing. I'm going to put it on my Reminder list until my TBR is a bit smaller, but it looks like a great read.

I really enjoyed Shutter Island...much more so than Mystic River. But, I just don't see DiCaprio in the role at all. If I had to picture Teddy Daniels he would look more like Keanu Reeves. DiCaprio might have been better suited (physically) for the role of Chuck, his partner.

This book freaked me out too, Carol.  But not in a good way.  I could not believe the ending, so I coaxed my son into reading it.  He was so mad, he wouldn't even discuss it with me; he hated the 'truth'.  I really needed a PBS friend in my life when I read SIsland.  I needed to discuss it with someone

Loved Mystic River. I thought the movie was very true to the book, and well acted besides.  Didn't know Shutter I was being made into a movie.  That should be interesting.

Anyone know if Lehane has any new books after S.I.?  I read an earlier mystery/detective and didn't care much for the story or writing.

Jan, that's funny ~ your son wouldn't talk to you~!  I actually love the PI series he has, I think there were 6 or so.  He had one called Coronado (I think that's the title) but it got such bad reviews on Amazon that I didn't want to mess up my experience with his books, so I didn't read it!  It wasn't one of the series........
