A great book. It is about the lives of two women and one man. It is a hot book in more than one way. The first time I read it was back in 1974 and it still kept me reading.

In Paris... Washington... and a fabulous villa in Greece, an innocent American girl becomes a bewildered, horror-stricken pawn in a game of vengeance and betrayal. She is Catherine Douglas, a woman caught in a web of four lives intertwined by passion as her handsome husband pursues and incredibly beautiful film star...and as Constantin Demeris, a legendary Greek tycoon, tightens the strands that control them all.

This was my first Sidney Sheldon book. I loved it. I read it one day and I read the sequel the next day. They only thing that I had trouble with was that it didn't seem like it took place in the 1940s. It seemed more like the 1970s. I'm not sure if its because the book was written in the seventies or that I haven't read many books that took place in the forties so I have a hard time visualizing it. I will definately be ready more Sidney Sheldon in the future.

In painting you have to have dark in order to show light. Its best if these two extremes are right next to each other even touching. It is so with this love triangle. Dark tragedy and innocense lost.
