Lauren Compton was on the run. She had crisscrossed the country in an attempt to escape her vidictive husband, but from their lavish Long Island estate to a modest apartment in California, he had always managed to track her down. Cornered now, at the breaking point after a series of suspicious accidents, Lauren boarded a plane for Chicago, where she knew nobody. In anonymity, she hoped to find peace.
