Lauren Compton was on the run. She had crisscrossed the country in an attempt to escape her vidictive husband, but from their lavish Long Island estate to a modest apartment in California, he had always managed to track her down. Cornered now, at the breaking point after a series of suspicious accidents, Lauren boarded a plane for Chicago, where she knew nobody. In anonymity, she hoped to find peace.
Lauren awoke in a hospital, bandaged, woozy, aching. She reached for a newspaper and read the story of the plane crash, then her own obituary. A nurse addressed her as "Diane". Lauren did not correct her. She had found the perfect hiding place.
But life as Diane Roberts was only the beginning of a terror beyond her worst imaginings.
