I read Blue Willow by Doris Gates as a child and loved it.  I also remember reading similar books about itinerant families with young children traveling around looking for a place to settle.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  How about the author?  These would be older books - I was a child a long time ago.  Any help is appreciated.

Do you mean 7 alone. It was a family who was on their own and was traveling through the wilderness and trying to make it on their own. Is this the book that you want. JEan

Thank you for your suggestion.  I remember reading that.

I also posted this in the historical fiction forum.  Those ladies are amazing.  I had an answer in about 10 minutes.  The author I was looking for is Lois Lenski.  She wrote Judy's Journey, Strawberry Girl, Coal Camp Girl among others.  I loved those books as a child.
