I know this isn't the Children's forum, but it is HF.  I'm not getting much response in Children's and we are all avid readers.  I read Blue Willow by Doris Gates as a child and loved it.  I also remember reading a series of similar books about itinerant families with young children traveling around looking for a place to settle.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  How about the author?  These would be older books - I was a child a long time ago.  Any help is appreciated.

Were they by Lois Lenski? I remember several of hers, including "Strawberry Girl"

OMG! That's it. Judy's Journey is the one I was trying to remember.  Thank you so much.  I knew my girls wouldn't let me down.

Yup, I was going to say Lois Lenski as well.  Those were some of my favorite stories as a young girl.

Well! High five & thumbs up & chest bump & a happy end zone dance for Mimi & Cheryl !! I, too, read Lois Lenski as a girl & as soon as I read Mimi's post, I thought, "yep - that sounds about right," but I would never have been able to pull that author out of the deep recesses of my memory like you two did.

I am quite impressed! (Kelly)
