This book has very few projects that I find even interesting. Take old shopping bags, cut them up, knit them, and what do you get? A shopping bag! And the point is??? There is also a laddered sweater (who wants to knit a sweater that, when it is new, looks as though it has seen better days??? Then there is a liner for a hanging plant basket (why?), wall hangings, cushions (gee, I need a pattern to knit a square?), a patchwork throw (more squares), knitted wire beaded napkin rings, and slippers knitted from satin ribbon (100 yards of 1/2 inch satin ribbon sounds costly).
There is also a bean bag chair where the seating surface is knitted and the bulk of the chair is denim. That one might actually work out. If you're into fifties cute, there's a poodle bottle cover (for a wine or spirit bottle). The wall hanging pattern is actually kind of nice. Maybe you should use it for the throw. Or a pillow.
The only pattern in the book that I might consider making is the barcode dog sweater. That one looks like it might be fun.
