I don't know what to say about this book. I loved it, I hated it, I wanted to throw it across the room. I felt like I was on a carnival ride while reading it with it's ups and downs, but it kept me reading to see what would happen next even when I thought I had had enough I came right back for more...It was a lot darker than I was expecting it to be and not the happy, sappy love story I was looking for when I started this book but it was good none the less. Honestly I was torn between a 3 and 4 star rating for this but after reading the epilouge on her web site it is defiently a 4 star book...It was beautifuly written. The epilouge on website is a must read upon finishing the book it ties up all the loose ends nicely..it's a shame it didn't make it in the book.

This was the first book I read by Charlotte Featherstone and I loved it. You will feel Matthew and Jane's shame, pain, passion and love. The book ends and you want more. Ms Featherstone delivers more with an epiloge on her website. Great Read. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Featherstone.

Matthew, the Earl of Wallingford needs money. His father has decided to cut him off from funds because of his wild and reckless lifestyle. Matthew holds an auction for one of his very risqué paintings. This money will allow him to open his own art gallery. After the action Matthew is jumped by a couple of thugs and is brutally beaten and left for dead. Someone finds him and he is taken to a hospital where he is nursed by Jane Rankin who is considered shy and plain by most.
Sinful started out with promise. Charlotte Featherstone's writing is very sensual and the characters were intriguing, each with a mysterious past. Unfortunately, things went downhill after the first quarter of the book. There is a point when Matthew insults Jane with such cruelty. It was such an ugly hurtful scene that I felt in order for things to work between them Matthew was going to have to grovel. He never really does. I believe they do talk about the incident but not much in the way of an apology is given.
Then the ending of the book was a complete an utter disappointment. Matthew had some major baggage in his past and I don't feel that it was ever resolved. Also, I felt cheated at the way that Matthew and Jane get their "happy ever after". I can't really go into details without spoiling it for other readers. Just suffice it to say that I was majorly disappointed. I almost wish I had not finished the book and just stopped in the middle. I would have been more satisfied. Sorry, but this is not a book I can recommend.

This was an awesome book! Matthew is a damaged soul, and Jane has to work hard to help him repair that damage. I can't wait to read more by this author!
Oh my this was my catnip. Hero is very flawed and overall horrible human being with a deep, dark secret. Heroine is born of the "lower" classes and not attractive who reforms and falls in love with him. What I got, was good until the last couple of chapters. That was, WTF??!!
Granted, there is an epilogue, not included in this book, presumably available SOMEWHERE online. I looked for it and got taken to a webpage for hair loss (once it was translated- thanks Google translator!).
The only positive for me, was the book's originality.
