From the back cover:
Britt Evans, professor of classical studies on sabbatical from a Midwestern university, is visiting the remote, picturesque Greek island of Santirini in the Mediterranean for what she thinks will be a quiet stay and the chance to do research a its archaeological excavation. But when a young Greek photographer plunges to his death from the island's steep cliffs, her research takes a different turn. Island police call the death an accident, but powerful Greek and American authorities suspect otherwise and enlist Britt in their attempts to find out what's going on at the island's Akrotiri excavation. As the investigation intensifies, so do Britt's feelings for Cassie Burkhardt, a computer programmer at the dig, with whom she is falling in love. As their relationship heats up, Britt and Cassie also find themselves drawn into an ever tightening spiral of danger and intrigue, until Cassie is abducted and her survival hinges on Britt's resourcefulness and courage.
