The second in Ms. Sprinkle's genealogical series, it was just as good as the first; lots of characters (including many introduced in Death on the Family Tree), lots of suspense, and some wonderful Southern history thrown in for good measure. Now I'll be researching privateers...

I wasn't sure I would like this new series when I so love the MacLauren and Joe Riddley Yarbrough series. But I was delightfully surprised. It was a pleasure to meet Katharine Murray, Dr. Flo, Posey, Hollis, Tom and many "lesser" characters. The story of searching for ancestors' secrets takes a lot of twists and turns, all punctuated with shotgun blasts here and there.. Worth a read. Alice M.
