Canadian sisters Melanie and Joanne are stunned to hear they've inherited their uncle's beachfron summerhouse in Mexico. With a snap, a trip is planned: They';ll travel opulently by cruise ship to Ensenada, zip over to San Filipe, signgn a few papers at the bank and the tropical hideaway will be theirs.
What they don't expect is a spa treatment gone loco, snails and cactus on their dinner plates, risky ocean dips, a cross-country desert drive, a dishy doctor, or a Federale who doesn't speak English. Fortunately, some problems really can be solved with coconut cake and , if necessary, a water fight. The beachfront property - and what it takes to get there - becomes a gift beyond their wildest wishes as these Sisterchicks relinquish themselves to the dreams God has for them...all under the sombrero of His grace.

Light, entertaining and fun. Part of the Sisterchick series.

Another heartwarming sisterchicks story. This time the two travellers are really sisters, who grow closer during a trip to Mexico to check out a beachfront inheritance.

Great audio version of this precious book by Robin Jones Gunn, who also actually reads the story. Two 40 something sisters take an impromptu and adventurous trip across the Baja Peninsula to check on some property they recently inherited. This is a fun and charming story.

Gunn's third Sisterchicks novel offers the expected chick-lit emphasis on female friendship, enhanced by this series' usual formula of a girlfriends' getaway. In this case, the "sisterchicks" are actual sisterstwo 40-something Canadian women who inherit what they are told is prime real estate on the coast of Mexico, and run for the border to check it out. Melanie, the book's narrator, is a born organizer and worrywart who, rather predictably, discovers joy in Christ and in her free-spirit sister Joanne, a saintly idealist with a character-saving dash of fun. Although the novel is preachy at times, many Christian women will identify with these sisters and their entertaining exploits, from their highs (a chocolate-laden luxury cruise, a hint of romance) to their lows (being ripped off at a rental car firm, battling las cucarachas during an unexpected detour). Gunn writes with humor and a deep understanding of the power of women's intimacy.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Two Canadian sisters inherit beachfront property in Mexico and take off on an adventure to claim their inheritance. They travel opulently by cruise ship to Ensenada and survive a rocky trip through Baja California, only to be shocked when they arrive in San Felipe. Their beachfront property is, indeed, on the beach, but the "structure" is a cement slab and the Airstream trailer their uncle parked on the property in the early 1960s! With the help of a few locals, the Canadian cuties figure out what to do with their less-than-desirable legacy. The true gift, they find, is that they are reconnected as sisters and discover that everything that happened along the way was part of God's plan.

This was a favorite - the tender teaching so interwoven in the story you don't know what hit you until God says "Gotcha!". Loved it so much had to get a second copy to share with friend - I want to re-read this one a couple more times before I can let it go.
