Last night (around 1:00 AM EST) I had a book requested.  As of this morning I have not received an e-mail letting me know that a request was made.

Neither did I get my daily new books posting e-mail, but since the Books Posted Today function is down (as noted in the CMT forum), I don't know if that is explainable as no new books in the system.

So I was just wondering if e-mails are not going out to everyone (in which case, I'm betting the powers that be already know about it and are working on it) or if it is ME and I need to look into it on my end.

Thanks!

M.E.

Have you checked your Spam folder?  Try adding "librarian@paperbackswap.com" to your email address book.  Usually if a sender's in your address book, the message won't get tagged as spam.

Are you receiving other emails?  If not, it could be your email server is having issues.

Yes, I'm getting other e-mails and I already have "paperbackswap.com" in my approved list.

I was just wondering if after the site went down yesterday (because I got my pbs e-mails until that time) anyone else is in the same boat and not getting PBS e-mails.

If it is just MY e-mail, I'll dig in and troubleshoot it, but I hate to waste the effort if the problem is widespread and there would be nothing I could do anyway.

Thanks!

M.E.

I'm probably the only person in a hundred thousand that never checks email.  I hear people complain all the time about having to deal with email.  For PBS it's just as easy to log-in and check Club Communications.  I pretty much only have an email address because one must if one is online at all.  Once in a while I go and do a mass delete.  Otherwise, I don't mess with it!

I'm not getting any mails either.  Yesterday, I did get some telling me I had wl'd books available, but after I requested them, I never got any of the follow up emails I normally get.  I'm also not getting any emails when posts are posted to my watched threads.

So maybe it's random who's getting mails and who isn't? LOL

I'm not getting PBS emails either.  No Daily Digest email today.  A book was requested from me--no email to notify me.  A sent a buddy a credit--no email to confirm.  So M.E., it's not just you.  I specifically came into this forum to see if anyone had posted about this or if I was the only one!

I just ordered a book, and I hope the sender doesn't miss the request because they're not getting their emails!

I've been here for several hours this morning.  Just checked my email again.......still none.....and I've accepted several more requests this morning.

Probably with all the server problems......the emails are hiding......and when they come out of hiding.......our inboxes are going to be overflowing!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOL

I'm also not getting any PBS emails, although I see they are in my Club Communications, so they are being sent.  Seems I recall this happening before when the site has been down...I think they will all come in a whoosh and then be OK.

No PBS emails for me. either - since Friday evening. I can check on requests by going to the My Account page, so at least that part is working okay, as are the Personal Messages, and credit appeared in my account for some books that apparently were received Saturday. So at least parts of PBS are working and, as noted above, we'll all probably get a deluge of emails when that starts working again.

I've been removing a lot of Watch Topic emails today so I am getting at least those today. I also got one letting me know of a PM on a book transaction.

What provider do you all use? Maybe with all the extra traffic from the People article, one of the providers received enough spam reporting in PBS that they are getting blocked again.

I'm using AOL and/or IE.   I have NEVER not gotten the emails before from this site.  I only am set up to get a few of them, including my PM one.   Hope they have it fixed soon.

Thought I'd cross-post this in case people did not see TPTB post in CMT about the servers being down yesterday:

...Some email providers are now not delivering PBS emails, too - our servers being offline for a while made them start treating our system emails as spam.  Everyone should be sure to add the PBS emails (librarian@paperbackswap.com and noreply@paperbackswap.com) to your email account address book, and this should help you start getting your PBS emails again. This seems to be affecting comcast and AOL primarily, but many others are also blocking our emails, so everyone should be sure the above email addresses are in their address books.

here's where they posted www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php

Haven't gotten any either and I'm on Comcast. They are not in my spam folder on OE or when I check my mail on the web. I believe that Comcast has to allow the pbs mail, there's a way for them to do it, but I don't know how to let them know what they need.

If the emails are in your club communications but aren't showing up in your inbox, email your internet service provider about it.  They can remove filters on your account.

You might want to check out the post made from the PBS team on this thread.  It explains the email problem.  Paperbackswap.com DOWN??  page 3

Actually Cozi, just by adding PBS to your email contacts does not work as the emails are being filtered by the ISP before they even hit your account. According to what i've read on the comcast site, there is a form that needs to be Filled out and they need PBS' ISP number in oreder To remove the filters. At least That was what I understood. I hope that comcast can get This resolvef soon. (Please excusr any typod as I'm trying to write this on my ipod touch)

Aol states that PBS must contact them to get PBS emails reinstated.

ditto what Lori said, and it's not just comcast and aol, road runner is down too.  I imagine that it's going to take a bit of time to get to all the ISP and get this straightened out.

I just checked with my local ISP (I don't have either Comcast or AOL) and they say they haven't filtered anything, so I'm guessing it must be a problem at the PBS end, perhaps connected with the outage on Saturday.
