For real. I haven't experienced wait times like these in *years*. Definitely the slowest site I go to on a regular basis. It's 9:30 PM EST, and the site is so slow, I am twiddling my thumbs. Most of the time it's faster, but in the 10 days since I joined PBS, I would say at least once every 1-2 days I give up and come back later.

Do other people have this experience? Is it one of those situations where it's time to get more servers or upgrade the servers or whatever? (Yes, I know nada about the underpinning of a website.)

What's the scoop?

--but I'm not grumpy, cuz I love the Swap,

I don' t have any idea if this will make a difference or not, but what browser are you using?  PBS recommends using FireFox.

Welcome Fiona, no idea where the problem could be 'cause I don't have any speed issues with PBS. A member for two years, my pages load quickly and always have.  Best wishes with that problem tho.

I experienced problems when I was using IE, but since I switched to Firefox I haven't had any problems.  Hope you can get it figured out!

I use IE and I have no speed issues. Do you clean out your cookies often?

Remove Temporary Internet Files as well as cookies on a regular basis.  It makes a difference.

What type of Internet connection do you have?

Mine is through my cable company.  Every once in a while I have to unplug the internet cable modem, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in to "reset" something.  Not sure what I'm resetting, but that is what the company advised and it works everytime.

I've never had any problems with PaperBack Swap loading.  It's probably on your end...do any other sites take long to open for you?

Weird.   Usually if I'm having problems w/another site, I'll check PBS real quick to see if it's my connection.   I don't think I've ever had any problems w/pbs.
