If you enjoyed his first book, Q & A (aka Slumdog Millionaire), dont miss reading his second endeavor! A notorious criminal, who has gone unpunished by the justice system, is murdered at his birthday party, in his own house (known only as Number Six), in front of 500 witnesses: none of whom saw anything. An investigative reporter sets to task to uncover the murderer, basically to put the justice system on trial. There are, you guessed it, six suspects, all of whom have a motive. Their background and motive are examined in great detail. The petty bureaucrat who suddenly becomes schizophrenic, alternating between a ruthless, retired tyrant and Gandhi. I love the way he works in, through the minor character of a nutty English literature professor, the titles to classic literature. The cell-phone thief who pilfers the wrong phone, recovers a mobsters loot, and falls in love with the wrong girl. The gangster politician who runs the political subdivision; who is constantly embarrassed by his gangster son, who turns out to be the murder victim. The Americana poor mans Philip Marlowe who travels all the way to India to discover that he has been swindled out of $4,000 by an alleged mail-order bride and finds himself trapped in India. The tribal from the Andaman Islands who is seeking the village sacred stone (à la Indiana Jones) that has been appropriated by the islands welfare officer. The actress pursued relentlessly by the victim, who finds her doppelgänger in a young orphan, and who becomes her Pygmalian. Each suspects life is intertwined with the victim, so they all end up at the birthday party: each with a different gun. But who killed Cock Robin? After reading multiple solutions, you will not guess the truth. But, is it the truth?
