Fun & easy read. I enjoyed the flawed heroine. I also enjoyed the flashbacks- like Wow chips, Diet Snapple, and shoulder pads. Lots of fun.

I loved this book. It reminded me of a relationship that I was in. I thought it was very realistic and it was great I couldn't put it down. Wendy Markham is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors this is a must read for any Chick Lit or Red Dress Ink Fan.

This book is a very cute story of a young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City while her boyfriend is away for the summer. It's a great beach or airplane read, light but not ignorant. I liked it enough to request the second book in the series! It's cute and funny.

A story of a woman trying to navigate the difficult path between her job, her Italian family, and her actor boyfriend. Keeps you guessing until the very end.

Slightly Single by Wendy Markham is an example of why I love the Chick-Lit genre. My reading tastes vary far and wide but when I want a heroine who is intelligent, funny, witty, and manages to rise above whatever life throws at her, I turn to this genre. As with everything, there have been disappointments, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this treasure buried in my to be read mountain. Surprised, also, to see how long it has been languishing there.

Tracey is a very likeable character. She possesses many of the character traits I admire and wish more people had. Shes nice, loyal, and considerate. Unfortunately, none of these traits seem to get her anywhere. Her boyfriend decides to take off to upstate New York for summer stock and doesnt seem inclined to want Tracey with him. Her boss is an overbearing jerk who expects her to run his personal errands. Lastly, Tracey is appalled at the image she sees looking back at her in the mirror.

Tracey doesnt know how she is going to survive all summer by herself in New York City in a dumpy apartment while Will is away. She decides it is time to reinvent herself. She begins by deciding to lose the weight she has been carrying, start saving more money and begin reading the classic novels she hasnt gotten around to. I liked that Tracey doesnt wallow in pity and appears to think quickly on her feet.

Of course, not everything goes smoothly for Tracey. She has her moments when she stumbles and falls, but shes a character that doesnt stay down for long.

Along the way, she has some great friends to lean on and I love how this story left me eager for the next book in the series. I absolutely could not stand Traceys boyfriend, Will. I thought he was shallow and selfish and enjoyed that Traceys best friend thinks hes gay. I did like Traceys friends, didnt get much time with the family so Im shelving my opinion on them for later as they may show up in later books. Liked Traceys coworkers and intensely disliked her boss.

Overall, this was a great start to a series that Im looking forward to reading more of to see what becomes of Tracey and if she manages to find the happily ever after we all want

Slightly interesting. Slightly cute story. Slightly predictable. Slightly DATED. Published in 2002, there's no internet, no cell phones, no DVDs. Not even a decade old its like watching Brady Bunch reruns. Even descriptions of clothes are so cheesy sounding. A teddy with snaps in the crotch? I thought those went out in the 80's not the 00's. Whatever.

Tracey is ok. I liked the introduction of Buckley and their interaction throughout the story. I wasn't wowed and I skimmed a lot of the story. I don't know, I would like to see what happens in later books, so I supposed Markham got me interested. But I can't give a high recommendation for this book.
