Hey, guys!  If you don't have a profile that mentions it and you list book deals, would you please mention in your post whether or not yours is a nonsmoking home?  It would sure help some of us shoppers out, thanks!  I appreciate it!

Hi Carol Ann - did you know that you can make that a Requestor's Condition? Like I don't think it's in my profile that my books are smoke free but when I order a book my Condition says from a non-smoking enviorment please so that I'm sure only to get books from a non-smoking household. And anyone who orders from me - their Condition will come up and if it doesn't meet their expectations I wouldn't send it.

Carol Ann ~ I have updated my profile to include that my books come from a smoke free and pet free home.  Thanks for the suggestion!  I have a requestor's condition and it isn't always honored which is very frustrating!  I think it doesn't hurt to add that info wherever possible.  Have a great day! ~ Rebecca

Both are good suggestions.  Mine are typically from UBS, but I'll state that I'm willing to do a sniff test on mine.  Off to update the profile.

Thanks, guys!  Yes, Courtney, I do have it under my requestor conditions, but when people post their deals in the Bazaar, I don't know whether or not their home is nonsmoking.  I have ordered lots of stuff in the Bazaar that they sender had to cancel because their home wasn't.  I could have saved us both the time and trouble if I knew ahead of time whether or not their home was smoke-free.  Many of the deal posters don't have a profile - I check there first to see if smoking is mentioned.  I know that personally I would order a LOT more books in the Bazaar if I knew beforehand that the person offering the deal had a nonsmoking home, but that's just me.  Courtney and Rebecca, I'm adding your bookshelves to those I need to check out!

Thanks for the suggestion!  I've done that, too.  Another thing about the requestor conditions is that a lot of people don't like to use them because some people  automatically deline all RC's.  I have some great giftable (brand-new or like-new) books noted under my profile, too.

What a good idea.  I have just listed on my profile and also on my signature that books come from smoke-free home and used books get a sniff test.

Good suggestion. I also added this to my signature and profile. I get many books from local thrift stores and can't guarantee they have always been in a smoke-free environment. But, I have allergies and my daughter has asthma so I am very picky about what I let come into our house. I always do a sniff test at the store!

Another suggestion for those posting deals is to indicate what kind of books your bookshelf contains--mystery, romance, sci fi, cooking, thrillers, non-fiction, mix of ..., etc., etc.  Sometimes I don't bother checking out a bookshelf if the poster hasn't given me a clue about what I might find.

While you are listing in your profile whether your books come from a non smoking enviorment. You might also want to list whether it comes from a home with pets. I know there are people who are just as sensitve to pets as they are to smoke.  I will go and do that to my profile as well. I am a smoke and pet free house.  JEan

Can I chime in with another suggestion/request?  When you have provided a list of the books that you have available on the post, please go back and delete or strike through the ones that have been taken.  I've spent time looking for two books today from posts that had actually already been taken.

False advertising!  LOL

Troublemaker here. See, I smoke. Outside. While I am outside smoking, I am playing with the dog and three feral cats that have finally accepted me.

I consider my books to be coming from a smoke-free, pet-free home. But some of you may not.

I'm bumping this because there are lots of deals being posted but I have no idea whether or not they are coming from smoke-free homes, even after trying to look up everyone's profiles.  I don't want to bother looking and ordering if the request will just have to be canceled, thanks!

My shelf is a smoke free, pet free one. I do do used books but I also do the sniff test on them. I will be adding that to my profine and sig. I'm doing a 2 for 1 sale and will consider suggestions for other deals. I have romance, paranormal and pet care books.
