Has anyone else seen this ridiculous show?  Is it just me or should first graders know what in the heck a predicate is or can 3rd graders  identify the word "so" as an adverb in a sentence?  Maybe my kids are remedial but this show just irritates the fire out of me.  I had to vent.

Um, okay....my 1st grader (who I think is REALLY smart) has no clue what a predicate is.  We're just learning nouns and verbs.

I just want to be sure....are you saying that a 1st grader should know this?  (Maybe I need to get on the stick!  LOL)

We were watching it briefly, at a friend's house tonight. The show has got to be staged somehow. No way would a normal kid know all that stuff.

My friend gets into shows like that. I would rather read a book.

My first grader who works at a 3rd grade level doesn't know what a predicate is nor should he even at his level.

Is this a tv show you're referring to?  I've never heard of it.

Yes, this is a TV show so please don't take it as a scope and sequence you should be following.  I've seen bits of it a couple of times.  The categories are labeled 3rd grade astronomy or 1st grade social studies etc.  Supposedly starting easy with "1st" grade questions and getting harder up to the "5th" grade questions.  The questions appear to be so "out there" .   My 5th grader would not do well.  I also hate how it portrays kids to be so much smarter than adults.

Sounds more like a trendy rating system for the questions than it does actual knowledge banks of the various grades.

Oh I agree!!! The first time I watched this show I was worried my 1st grader was way behind! lol But we do enjoy the show. My husband has been impressed a few times with what our 11yr old daughter does know. I've had to tell "See I teach them stuff!". lol

Thank the Lord it wasn't just me.  Don't get me wrong, I like the show...somewhat.  I just think their questions are a little on the wrong grade level.  My Dh and I were discussing that when the show first started.
