Smashed is a fun, road trip, adventure that has something horrid or hilarious around every turn. The protagonist is a vulgar, anti-hero, who manages to be likable, mainly due to his intense, but pure love for his dog, Idgit Galoot, from whom he has been separated.

It is the quest to be reunited with Galoot that motivates the protagonist forward, stumbling from one misadventure to the next, where he encounters a cast of quirky characters and obstacles ranging from arrest for suspected necrophilia, to being captured by pseudo-skunk apes.

At its heart the story is sweet and touching. Even repeatedly awakening to mysterious anal pain is not enough to keep this man from his true love. It's not often that a character shows that much devotion to the one he loves.

It's still gross, though. Thank God it wasn't scratch and sniff!

This book was awful. Don't waste your credit. It has nothing to do with the dog so if you think your getting a book with the dog as a main character your not. It's just about the owners journey back to find the dog, and the whole experience is SO VULGAR I didn't even bother finishing it.
