I looked down through the discussions and didn't see anything about the site - smashwords.
Does anyone know anything about this site? Is it reliable, etc. Anyone have any personal experience with it?
An Author has offered me a free ebook to review through here.
I have a nook, so how do I download it, which one do I use?
I am so new at this! Sorry.
I've purchased from Smashwords before with no problem.
The format you download depends on what ereader you have. If you don't have one, then what program on your computer will you use to read the ebook?
I have a Sony Touch and I always get the EPUB version.
I have used it, but everything I've "bought" from there has been either free or free after coupon. For registering it didn't ask for too much info (just email address, username, country of residence and whether you are over 18 or under 18. You can add a profile with more information but it's not necessary. And they don't send a bunch of spammy emails. All I've gotten is 1 reminder to rate the books I've bought.
The good thing of the website is that since it's basically for independently published books is that there are a lot of free or cheap books. Of course, that also means that there are a lot of books that won't be your cup of tea.
I don't have a nook. I always download ePub. I don't see a nookbook option but check to see what other formats Nook supports. My brother has a nook and I know that it supports PDF, so maybe you can try that format.
I've gotten several books through Smashwords.com and Smashwords publisher books through the B&N website. All were free. I haven't had any issues with them. They've got some interesting stuff.
If you get them at B&N, it's as simple as all the other books you order.
If you buy it via Smashwords, just use Nook for PC or Adobe Digital Editions to copy the book over to your Nook.
Get the epub version.
