This sequel to "The Good Old Boys" continues the saga of Hewey Calloway, a cowboy born fifty years too late, as he struggles to adapt to the changing face of Texas. Of the twenty or so Elmer Kelton books I have read, the two Hewey Calloway books stand near the top of the list.

If possible, try to read "The Good Old Boys" first. This bok is first-class as a stand-alone read, but reading the prequel first will increase your enjoyment.

A sweet, non-vilolent love story by one of the all-time best Western writers ever! You can't go wrong with Elmer Kelton.

Another wonderful Kelton book about Hewey Calloway, the beloved typical cowboy.
