I have a question about no smoking RC's.  I'm in the process of  doing a deal with a member on some books and when I received her book request there was a no smoking RC along with a few other things like no stains, no library books.  I sent a PM  explaining I do have a smoker in my home; although I try to keep my books in  a separate room and that I buy most of my books second-hand from bookstores/online and will not guarantee they've never been around smoke/pets.

I receive a reply saying that it's fine, she just doesn't want books saturated with smoke. Now, I don't know if I feel comfortable sending her the books and I'm not sure what I should do. I've never posted a book with what I'd consider a bad smell; however every person is different and some people are more sensitive to certain things like smoke.

She still wants to proceed with the deal and I'm feeling hesitant and honestly afraid of getting a rwap. This is also my first RC; Any suggestions?

I would ask her to please remove her RC for this swap. (and if she does tell her you will not be held accountable for odors)

I would also strongly suggest you cancel the transaction, ask her to remove the RC, then re-offer the books to her. If it's not a big deal to her that someone in your home smokes, she shouldn't have a problem with not having the RC on this transaction.

She needs to cancel though not you!  If you cancel then the book(s) will be reordered for her from FIFO.  Ask her to cancel and rerequest with her RC turned off.

And keep all your PMS with her until the books have been marked received.

Oops. I guess I should have made that clearer. Thanks Mary.

Definately have her cancel the request and turn off the RC.

I agree.  It's summer and many members are busy and distracted, best to keep the transaction as simple and straight-forward as possible.

Such great advice, Thank You!!

I've contacted the other member and am waiting to see what her reaction is to canceling the request and starting over with no RC's.  I guess I'll check back later and see what happens. Thanks Again to everyone who commented!!
