I had a member PM asking me to help her help a friend's child blah, blah, blah.  She asked for 6 books for two credits.  I agreed.  Then came back and ask if I would hold on to said books as she only had 1 credit.  Then came back and ask if I would like to chose 3 books from her shelf and accept 1 credit as she was concerned about getting them there in time for Christmas and could I please mail them quickly.  Now I sent books to someone else already with a similar request for helping a friend  and was happy to do so.  But for some reason this one felt out of line and I almost declined.  But then I said oh its for the child just do it.  Now its been a few weeks no books ever came and the book ordered has never been marked received.  I just went to PM  person and there is a message account suspended or closed.

What happens now?  Is there anything I should do?

I wonder if TPTB didn't suspend her account because someone contacted them about her.  You might want to contact PBS and relate your story and concerns to them.

If the account is still in a suspended state when the books you sent go lost, I *think* that you will get your credits.  Not positive, but I think I remember reading other situations like that.

I "think" Melissa is correct. I had a similar situation where the member's account was suspended/closed. I think it was supposed to be automatic, but I had to ask...the book was then evidently marked received manually and I received my credit.

And yes...apparently you were snookered! I'm sorry - it's beyond tacky for people to take advantage of someone's good nature and then not hold up thier end at all. :-(

Just an FYI, book swaps without credits are only supposed to be done between Box of Books members. This may have something to do with the account being suspended. It may not. Just want to clarify that point. Only the Team knows the details of why the account is suspended or closed.

Yeah, in the future if someone offers you books instead of credits you should decline and let them know that such trades are only allowed between box of books members. Accepting such offers could jeopardize your account as well.
