I have read these stories countless times. When I first picked this one up, I was having trouble writing in the third person. Rereading every sentence, dwelling over the phrasing and how he portrays conversation really tuned my writing skills. So, I have a very special place for this collection which means I might be a tad biased. Saying that, I think these stories are wonderful. The emotions I'm left with at the end of each one feel earned, not given. I also feel the triumphs. The sting of a character's pride being chiseled away by his own wife is very real and we shrink with him. Ernest Hemingway is a fantastic story teller. I highly recommend. My favorites were the title story and "The Killers".
