presents a rousing and readable introductjion to the lives and times of the great philosophers . . . i used this book to teach background of various periods and works and loved it.
This book is a wonderful introduction to philosophy. My 14 year old son read it and it helped get him interested in philosophy. I also use it in my ethics class as a good background text.
