As a huge Dean Koontz fan, I loved this book. The story follows a man who loses his family in a plane crash that killed everyone on board. The man later finds out there is a sole survivor, who has many secrets she is keeping. This book has the usual heavy character development found in Koontz's novels. A very good book.

Mystery. A man mourning the loss of his wife and daughter in a plane crash is told there was a sole survivor - a little girle. It's a race against time to find and protect her from unknown forces seeking to eliminate her.

Every once in a while I just have to read a Dean Koontz book. There is no one who can describe rain ,dirt, mist, storms, or anything else like he does,he reminds me of Louis Lamour stories and his descriptions of the old west.

And besides that, he has stories about stuff we can't even think about. I read one a while backj that described "hell" I think and this story on "The Survivor" is about a man's challenge to get over his loss of his family. The characters he comes up with without a bed scene or a barroom fight are fantastic. I will probably read this again sometime in the future when I get tired of regular stuff.

Like other Koontz books, I found the characters likable and well-developed and liked the suspense. The one drawback was an ending that felt a bit rushed, jumping from an edge-of-your-seat chase to a peaceful epilogue.

This was a very interesting book - well, an interesting premise. The most interesting and saddest parts - the psychic test study kids - were the most interesting parts and there wasn't as much about them as I would have liked. And, really, the end was a little unsatisfying as nothing was done about those kids. And the side-story that turned into the main one, about religion, was a disappointment and a surprise to come from an author like him. Still, his books are fun reads and he is a good writer, this just isn't his best.

he Sole Survivor was my first Dean Koontz book. Can't say I'm a big fan of his style. The book started off really slow. By the time I felt like I had gotten to something interesting, I had already gotten through a quarter of the book. In the middle half of the book, the plot unfolded at a snail's pace while the auther filled the pages with irrelevant details. The pace picked up in the last quarter of the book, and the story got more interesting as it got into paranormal activities. I wish I didn't have to skip over so many boring paragraphs though to get there.

It was okay. I guess I'm not ready to return to Koontz, I've been on a crime and thriller kick lately, and haven't read hime for years... maybe I just don't have the patience for the Koontz-style parawierd. But that's just me....

This book begins with a catastrophic, unexplainable plane crash with no surviors. Have the authorities withheld information from the families of the victims? This book makes one reassess what one knows about life and death. This novel by Koontz was of haunting suspense.

A catastrophic, unexplainable plane crash leaves three hundred and thirty dead -- no survivors. Among the victims are the wife and two daughters of Joe Carpenter, a Los Angeles Post crime reporter.

A year after the crash, still gripped by an almost paralyzing grief, Joe encounters a woman named Rose, who claims to have survived the crash. She holds out the possibility of a secret that will bring Joe peace of mind. But before he can ask any questions, she slips away.

Driven now by rage (have the authorities withheld information?) and a hope almost as unbearable as his grief (if there is one survivor, are there others?), Joe sets out to find the mysterious woman. His search immediately leads him into the path of a powerful and shadowy organization hell-bent on stopping Rose before she can reveal what she knows about the crash.

Sole Survivor unfolds at a heart-stopping pace, as a desperate chase and a shattering emotional odyssey lead Joe to a truth that will force him to reassess everything he thought he knew about life and death -- a truth that, given the chance, will rock the world and redefine the destiny of humanity.
