...the "Auto Respond" function on the Wish List? I think it's Auto Respond though maybe it's Auto Reply. Anyhow, the default position is apparently "No" but I'm not sure what it is for. I'd be happy with a link as to where I can find the answer. Thanks!

Auto-request.  If you have it turned on and you have credits, the system will automatically order that WLed book when it becomes available.  Otherwise, you will have 48 hours to accept or deny the book before it's offered to another member.  Hope that helps!

Actually it means Auto Request. If you set your wish list books to auto-request, the system orders them for you automatically when they become available and you are first in line for them. If you don't have them set to auto-request, you will get the email asking you to log in and verify if you still want the book.

Auto request is great if you have some credits saved up, but if you don't, you would be wise not to have your books set to it, because if one of your wish list books comes up on auto request and you have no credits, you will be skipped over. If your books are not set to auto request and one of your wish list books comes up and you have no credits, you are given the option to buy one.

Auto Request! Thanks. At least I got the "auto" part right. Thanks for the answer, Amy. I'll leave it as it is so that I have time to decide. :)

Weird - my response was actually to a different post!  Not sure why it showed up here, LOL!

Not entirely true Bren from the HC:

  • If the item is set to auto-request on your Wish LIst:
    • if your account is NOT on Hold, the auto-request will be converted to a regular Wish List offer with a 48-hour hold, and you will have the option to purchase credits
    • If your account IS on Hold, you will be "passed over" and stay in your place in the Wish List line until you have credits OR the hold is removed from your bookshelf
