Have you clicked on "print wrapper"?

Getting the Address/Printing the PBS wrapper

  • Click on the request for the book

  • This will take you to the Wrapper Settings page
    • Choose your wrapper layout at the top of the page
      • the third choice (the one at the far right) is a one page label, not a wrapper
      • it cannot be used alone to wrap a book
      • choosing the one-page label option will make another choice available below on this Wrapper Settings page: to print on a sticker (adhesive label).  You will not see the "print on a sticker" option unless you have chosen the one-page label.
    • Choose: add PBS-DC or Print your postage (this also comes with DC) to your shipment or No extra services
      • PBS DC is an optional feature, costing 27 cents in PBS Money and 18 extra cents in postage
      • Printable postage will print your postage right onto the wrapper--be sure to check the estimated weight (see below). This costs 43 cents in PBS Money plus the cost of the postage (DC fee is included in the postage)
      • you do not have to have money in your PBS Money account to send a book unless you want to use PBS-DC or print postage
    • Check the estimated weight of your book --correct it if it is wrong
      • Packages 7 ounces or under will show suggested First Class rate, and First Class rate will print out if you use printable postage (if you want Media mail for a package 7 ounces or under you can enter a higher weight)
      • The estimate includes a small amount of weight for packaging materials
      • If you correct the weight, the postage amount will change accordingly.
    • If you are printing on a sticker (adhesive label), you can choose this:
      • Choose "yes" next to "Are you printing on a sticker?"
      • This option will show only if you have chosen the 1-page label (the choice on the far right at the top of the page).  You cannot choose to print on a sticker if you chose one of the two-page wrappers.
    • Choose your postmark date if you are using Printable Postage:
      • It is important to choose the date properly--you need to mail the book by that date. You cannot change the postmark date after you have downloaded/printed the wrapper.
      • If you mail AFTER that date, you can go to the PO and have a new metered $0.00 strip with that day's date applied to the package.
      • See FAQs about Printable Postage for more information about this.
    • Click at the bottom of the page
      • You will see a dialog box if you chose to print postage--check the weight and postage amount because this cannot be changed after you print!
      • You will have a choice to download or open the .pdf file containing the requestor's address
        • Choose "open" and the file will be downloaded and opened; then you can print it
        • If you choose "download" you will have to double-click on the file on your desktop to open and print it.
        • If you can't download the .pdf file, click underneath Print Wrapper Now to use the backup wrapper link to view the address on a printable webpage

You don't have to print the wrapper; you can hand-write your address.  But you do need to download the address (or use the backup wrapper link to view the address) in order to copy it.

I had this happen to me, I just PMed the requestor to update their address so I could send the book to them without any possiblity of delay from the post office.  They corrected the situation and the swap was completed.

You need to chose the option "print the wrapper".  If requestors information is incomplete, they will need to correct that before you can mail.
