I'm trying to come up with a Christmas gift for my sister.  I know that she loved "The Secret Life of Bees" so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions .  I am considering "Eat Pray Love".  Has anyone read and liked both or liked one but no the other?  Thanks.

I read and really enjoyed both, but bear in mind, they are nothing alike.  One is fiction, one not.  And many many folks hated E,P, L.

And in case you are considering it, Kidd's book after Bee's, The Mermaid Chair, was royally disliked by the multitudes, myself included.  It was awful. (Of course, there are as many opinions as there are people...)

Is the movie available on DVD yet? If not , make her some artsy crafty type coupon for the movie as soon as it is available. Or buy a jar of honey with the coupon attached. There are lots of possibilities.

How about the Mermaid Chair by the same author?  I enjoyed both books.  Well, some people didn't like Mermaid Chair, but I thought it was well done.

Another author you might try is Billie Letts.  Her books have the same quirky feel to them.  I just read Made in the USA which I enjoy.  Though I think Shoot the Moon, the Honk and Holler Opening Soon, and Where the Heart is might be a better first book for someone first exploring the author.

I loved "Bees" and EPL, but as said above, they are totally different.

I hated Mermaid's Chair. Never so dissapointed with a second book, probably becaus the first one was so good.
