I was posting books to my shelf last night, and I noticed that the "I am able to post this book" prompt has changed and you have to put a check in a box and agree to ship the book when it is requested, and the fraud warning is there now.  Sorta takes some of the mindlessness out of just clicking through until a book is posted to your shelf, I think:P  Just curious - anybody know when they put that in place?

It must be very recently because I posted book on Friday and didn't get that. I think I posted a couple on Sat and didn't get it either.

I posted one yesterday afternoon and didn't get that.   I did get that screen when I posted my first CD on the SwapaCD site.  It only showed up on the first one though, after that it was just like over here.

I *think* it went into effect sometime last night but I wasn't sure.  I was almost certain that I had posted a few and it wasn't doing that, and then it just started popping up sometime while I was posting books.  I posted a few more just now, and it's there every time.

I posted a book last night and didn't have to click on any box...at least not that I remember!

I got some off & on just now with it too.  Posted about 3 and it was there, and then posted 3 more and it wasn't.  Have no idea what's going on with it:P

Yeah, posted one book this morning and didn't get it and then the next 3 I did.

I like it -- might make some members realize that they are entering into a commitment and not just something they can do when they feel like it. There is nothing more frustrating than having one of your wishlist books posted (finally!) and then the request times out, which has happened numerous times to me.

I posted around 50 books today and I never saw any box to check.  It was like it always was.

Maybe they're toying with the idea of using it for books too and it's just a random thing.  I've posted about 80 books since last night, which is probably why I've seen it so much.  It didn't pop up at all when I was posting this afternoon, and I think I've posted about 20-25 books since the last time I saw it.  I kinda hope they do make it permanent myself.  Rule reminders never hurt.

I just posted a book and got this checkbox

"By posting a book, you agree to ship the book when it is requested. Posting books without the intention of mailing them constitutes fraud and will be prosecuted."

Is this what everyone is talking about?

hmmm.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I have always always posted my books with the intention to mail them when requested.  Although, once my father had a heart attack and a stroke and I left the house immediately, obviously not once did paperbackswap cross my mind.  I spent 2 months in the hospital and rehab but luckily I found a kind person that let me borrow their laptop in the hospital and put my account on hold within about a week.  There were about 2 or 3 requests that got cancelled and I emailed them later to explain the situation and offer my apologies.  Being a paralegal my whole life, the threat of prosecution just doesn't sound worth it to belong here.  I'm sending out 12 books today and now I'm questioning whether it is worth it, seriously, to remain here any longer, with the threat of fraud and prosecution.  I mean, you never know what is going to happen in your life.

I seriously doubt they have that in there with the intent of intimidating anyone into following the rules.  People cancel requests all the time, and the concern is more with people who have a repeated pattern of not sending out the books they post.  Given the number of people who complain in this forum about request cancellations and rollovers in FIFO, it's doubtful there's much in the way of actual penalties and prosecution going on here:P  I think PBS wants to remind people that they've made a commitment, and they need to take that seriously.  I think if anyone had so large a problem with sending out their books as all that, they'd end up having their account suspended long before they'd have to concern themselves with any sort of legal troubles.

I just posted some books, and my prompts came up in the usual way.  Nothing new in the way I posted.  Pat

I've gotten the check box on all the books I've posted the last few days.  I wonder why it's there for some and not for others.

"...fraud and will be prosecuted."

Dang, can't even exchange books without the possibility of being sued.

I'd really like to see a Post and Hold feature because I may be ready to take the time to add books to my bookshelf, but may not be ready to ship them immediately.

Edit: corrected spelling

Daniel, if you add the books to your TBR list instead of directly to your bookshelf, you can then post them with one click whenever you are ready.  You will also be able to tell if anyone is wishing for the book at the time that you want to post them.
