In honor of Halloween, of course. I need some suggestions of books that manage to be scary but keep the romance too. And not just something with vampires, werewolves, etc... but something that makes you want to double-check the locks and maybe leave the light on in the hall at night :P

How about Anne Bishop?  Well, she's dark.  Darker than I can handle.

I frankly like my romance without too much suspence or violence.  The darkest I'll go is Kim Wilkins.  And she does not do HEA.

The Perfect Husband by Lisa Gardner spooked me the first time I read it.  Some very tense, scary scenes in it and romance thrown in, too.

Margy

Eve Silver's Seduced by a Stranger - Really creepy gothic romance.

I like Eve Silver, I actually have that book on the way in the mail. That's just the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

I haven't tried Anne Bishop but I'll check her out.  I've seen her books suggested a couple times and have ment to take a look at them.

Is the Lisa Gardner book part of a series? I've never read anything by her before.

Not So Innocent by Laura Lee Guhrke.  It's real Victorian gothic stuff & spooky romance.  The heroine is a psychic with a telepathic link to a serial killer & the hero is a Scotland Yard inspector.  Good book.

Re:  Lisa Gardner.... They aren't exactly a series.. You could read them out of order.  However, previous characters and their families will show up in a book.

Watching for Willa was pretty good.  A spooky litle mystery that'll have you locking the doors at night, along with a romance.  It does get off to a shaky start, where you think the heroine is TSTL, but she pulls out of that 5-10 pages into the story.

Lisa Jackson or Shannon Mckenna.  Neither is afraid to give you a scary villain with a romance. Probably more so LJ.  I find her books to be mostly mystery/thriller with some romance thrown inside.  Lost Souls was about a vampire cult in a college.
