My second Judith McNaught book, and I believe she has become one of my favorite authors. :) I just love her stories. The characters just come to life for me. And I absolutely adored Jordan. sigh. Of course I could pick this one apart, but I so enjoyed it!! Another one for the keeper shelf. And I have to say I am glad the author thought to let us know that he hadn't been with his mistress on that fateful night. I had wondered and actually thought she had forgotten. It was the one thorn that was stuck in my side. whew!

Story of an artless country girl & her tempestuous marriage to a powerful Duke. She becomes ensnared in a web of jealousy & revenge.

A special heroine & a powerful moving love story.

I read this book when it was first published. I am a devout McNaught fan. I have reread this book several times as it is my favorite of the McNaught (the second is "Whitney, My Love"). This a classic historical romance because it is a story that you get lost in, and don't want it to end! When you do read the ending you are likely to be feeling happy because it is such a romantic happy ending and distraught because the story is over! I promise that many of you will immediately begin reading it again!

I LOVE this book. Love defeats pride, there is so much feeling and story in this book. Jordan and Alex's story is a classic!!! Reminds me a little of Jane Austin. Although Jordan is a jerk, are most heros?

Of all the books I've read ever, this is by far my favorite romance in this genre. I have very few keepers but this is my go to book for a good love story that makes me laugh out loud every time. My copy is practically falling apart!

besides the little mishap on the age difference reference, it was overall a decent book.. too "cookie cutter" characters.

This is one of my most favorite novels ever. Judith McNaught is a brilliant writer and she out does herself with this book. The characters come alive and you fall in love with them. The hero is masculine, handsome, yet hard and unreachable, until he meets his heroine. I have read and re-read six or seven times. I cannot recommend this book enough; or any of Judith McNaught's books.
